Healthcare Administration degree programs are different from Healthcare Management degree programs. However, they tend to occupy complementary roles in the same healthcare settings, with the latter concerned with general policy direction and large-scale health policy and the former with the myriad of tasks and goals that build up toward implementing these policy directions, including day-to-day administrative tasks.
Healthcare Administration degree programs tend to be welcoming of a variety of professional and educational backgrounds. However, many universities tend to prefer or require potential students to have a certain number of years of professional experience, aside from a willingness and/or desire to seek overall quality improvement of healthcare delivery services in their forthcoming leadership roles.
